Biographical Note: Ruth J. Stocking Lynch was a scientist and a college teacher. She was born in 1887, received her B.A. from Goucher College in 1910, and her Ph. D. in Zoology from The Johns Hopkins University in 1915. She taught at several American colleges including Agnes Scott College, Wells College, and the Carnegie Institute of Technology.
